Can't Stop, Won't Stop Moving

10.03.2014

It's like I got this music in my mind, and that music is Taylor Swift. Nonstop. This "Shake It Off" business is addictive.

And in all actuality, these lyrics are kind of the story of my life right now. A few weeks ago Ryan and I found out that we had to move unexpectedly. It didn't take too long to find a place that checked off all of our boxes, but moving itself has taken for. ev. er. I literally (fine, figuratively) can't stop moving. We got the keys to our new place on September 18th and have moved something every day since. And we still have more to do!

In the midst of all the chaos, the "Where the hell is the corkscrew!?"s, and the stares from coworkers who are starting to realize I've been wearing variations of one outfit for two weeks because I don't know where any of my clothes are, I've had to make a serious effort to force myself to look on the bright side.

For starters, we now live one block from the ocean in one of the most perfect little beach towns I could ever imagine. So basically, all my dreams have come true. Our dogs are happier, Ryan can start surfing regularly again, the air is cleaner, there's more to do in town...

But best of all? We have 10 new neighbors to say hello to!

I mean, look... if you're ever moving to San Diego, I can't recommend South Mission Hills enough. It's walking distance from Little Italy, Hillcrest and Balboa Park. It's an $8 Uber ride to Downtown. You can see the bay and the airport, you have super easy access to all the freeways. There's great food around. It's really an awesome neighborhood.

In fact, the only neighborhood that's more awesome is Ocean Beach. Which is why we moved there instead of staying in the same place. And a large part of what makes it more awesome is the people. There are tons and tons of friendly, happy people who are our age. While South Mission Hills was great, it just really didn't have any sense of community. Take one step into OB and you immediately feel like you're a part of something special.

That something special started right in our new complex for us. We were so happy to start meeting and saying hello to our new neighbors who share the other cottages in our gated community. During our first week in the new place we even had an impromptu bonfire in the yard and one of our neighbors bought little shots of honey whiskey for all of us to cheers with. And now that we're settling in, I found the perfect thing to share during our next one: chocolate.

Sponsored by Lindt HELLO!

Lindt Chocolate just came out with a whole line of yummy flavors in this new "Hello!" packaging that makes it fun to share (PS - they're also hosting an awesome giveaway and a series of romcom videos to celebrate the launch). I bought a bag of the minis to hand out at the next bonfire, because really what bonfire doesn't get better with mini brownie bars? None of them.

Um, I also bought some of the larger Hello bars in Salted Caramel, but the only thing those babies are saying hello to is my stomach.

Anyway, hopefully the moving part will soon be over so I can put together a new house tour. And by soon I mean I by next Saturday, since that's when we're throwing our Housewarming party....

Where's that chocolate?
