Hillcrest Taste 'N Tinis

12.16.2014

For whatever reason, this has been the year that I've finally started discovering all the holiday events that San Diego has to offer. For instance, a couple of weeks ago we went to the OB Holiday Parade for the first time. The parade is over 30 years old and it was super fun... we're even thinking about applying to participate next year!

And just this past week, I was invited to come check out and review Hillcrest's annual Taste 'N Tinis event. The Taste 'N Tinis tour of Hillcrest offered bites and sips at more than 30 stores and restaurants in Hillcrest. It was a great way to check out what's new to the neighborhood and to do some holiday shopping at the participating stores, all of which were running discounts.

Best of all, it was fun way to drink with my bestie!

After picking up our Walking Maps in the parking lot in front of Rite Aid, we decided to head to whichever places had the shortest lines for alcohol. We ended up starting at Buffalo Exchange, which, in my opinion, had the best tasting martini of the night. If only I could remember what it was...

Each store that was serving martinis had a different martini recipe. They all had little bars set up on card tables somewhere in the store and they poured our sips into tiny plastic martini glasses that we received at registration.

There were also bites being offered by about a dozen restaurants, but unfortunately we didn't come across too many of these on our walk. In fact, we only made it about halfway through the tour before we needed to stop for a Santa-sized drink (Get it? As opposed to our elf-sized martini glasses??) at a bar and got distracted.

Thinking about drinking your way through Hillcrest next December? Bookmark the Taste 'N Tinis website or like them on Facebook to keep them on your radar! And don't forget: bring singles to tip your bartenders!
